The Second ‘International Young Academicians Conference” is Being Held in Istanbul

Academicians who study Said Nursi and the Risale-i Nur are gathering in Istanbul. There is a growing interest in Said Nursi and the Risale-i Nur in the academic circles. Young academicians who are doing their Masters and doctorates in these areas in various world universities are meeting in Istanbul. The attendees will have a chance to meet and interact with each other and share their academic studies during the two days of intensive program. They will also have an opportunity to visit the touristic and historical sites of Istanbul and discover other treasures of Turkey. Before and after the program, the young academicians are expected to visit the sites where the Risale’s are first written and do some investigations to help them in their research.


The scholars that will attend the young academicians conference and share their experiences  are well-known for their work on Said Nursi and the Risale-i Nur, and they include Prof. Dr. Ammar Cidal who is the editor of the Nur journal published in Arabic, Prof. Dr. Aşrati Süleyman who has written several books and articles on the Risales, Prof. Dr. Bilal Kuşpınar, Prof. Dr. İbrahim Abu Rabi who is the editor of the books Islam at the Cross Roads, Islam in Modern Turkey, Spiritual Dimensions of Bediuzzaman Said Nursi’s Risale-i Nur, Theodicy and Justice in Modern Islamic Thought, Prof. Dr. Thomas Michel, Prof. Dr. Farid Alatas, Prof. Dr. Said Özervarlı, Prof. Dr. David Goa, Prof Dr Abdulhakim Enis,Ammar Cidal ,the editor of Nur Magazin,Fred Reed  together with Dr. Hasan Horkuc and Dr. Jeremy Walton who have done their doctorates on the Risale-i Nur. Ihsan Kasim, who has translated the Risales into Arabic, and Mehmet Firinci, who has been actively involved with service of Risale-i Nur for over 60 years will also contribute to the program by addressing the attendees.

The conference that will be attended by many young academicians from Canada, India, USA, Egypt, Morocco, Malaysia, Indonesia, Japan, Singapore, England, UAE, Turkey, and Algeria will be held in Istanbul on June 26th and 27th, and it will be closed to the public. The conference is organized by the Istanbul Foundation for Science and Culture that has arranged many similar conferences worldwide.
